Diego Velázquez
Diego Velazquez was a Spanish Golden Age painter who served as court painter to King Philip IV, celebrated for psychologically penetrating portraits and his masterwork Las Meninas. His technique, especially his loose, confident brushwork, influenced painters for centuries after, from Goya to Manet.
This collection includes Las Meninas, Juan de Pareja, The Surrender of Breda, and Portrait of the Jester Calabazas, along with his portrait of the young Infanta Maria Teresa. Every canvas is made to order and labeled with its size against the original painting's real dimensions, so the scale is never a guess.
