Tonalism
Tonalism emerged among American painters in the late nineteenth century, favoring soft, muted color harmonies and atmosphere over sharp detail or bright color. James McNeill Whistler was among its best-known practitioners, often giving his paintings musical titles like Nocturne to emphasize mood over subject matter, in a style that valued restraint over drama.
This collection includes Whistler's Nocturne, Whistler's Mother, and George Inness's Peace and Plenty. Every canvas is made to order and labeled with its size against the original painting's real dimensions, so the scale stays true to the source.
