Romanticism
Romanticism emerged in the early nineteenth century as a reaction against the restraint of Neoclassicism, prizing emotion, imagination, and the power of nature over cool reason. Painters of the movement turned to dramatic weather, distant landscapes, and intense historical or personal subjects, often working in Britain, France, and Spain at the same time.
This collection includes Constable's The Hay Wain, Turner's Saltash with the Water Ferry, Goya's The Third of May 1808, and Thomas Cole's The Voyage of Life: Childhood. Every canvas is made to order and labeled with its size against the original painting.
