Rococo
Rococo painting developed in eighteenth-century France, favoring lightness, playfulness, and pastel color over the grandeur of the preceding Baroque style. Its scenes of leisure, flirtation, and ornament reflected the tastes of the French court and aristocracy, before Neoclassicism's more serious, classical mood took hold later in the century.
This collection includes Fragonard's The Swing, Watteau's The French Comedians, and Chardin's Soap Bubbles, along with Panini's Picture Gallery with Views of Modern Rome. Every canvas is made to order and labeled with its size against the original painting's real dimensions, so the scale always matches the source.
