The table doesn't line up — on purpose.
Look at the table's edges left and right of the cloth: they don't meet. Cézanne deliberately broke single-point perspective in this still life — the Art Institute's catalogue calls it a defining example of his tilted, doubled viewpoints, the crack that opened the way to Cubism.
- Honest scale — sizes labeled against the original (65 × 80 cm).
- Verified story — the broken perspective, per the Art Institute of Chicago.
- Source recorded — the museum's open-access master scan on matte canvas. Made to order.
