Ukiyo-e

Ukiyo-e, meaning pictures of the floating world, flourished in Japan during the Edo period as a popular art of woodblock prints depicting landscapes, city life, kabuki actors, and beautiful women. Artists like Hokusai and Hiroshige are the best known today, but the genre involved hundreds of designers working across two centuries.

This collection includes celebrated designs alongside quieter finds, from Hokkei's Drummer from The Cave Door of Spring to Kikukawa Eizan's Autumn Moon at the Temple Ishiyamadera. Each print is made to order on stretched canvas, with its size labeled against the true dimensions of the original woodblock print.
